Post Byzantine Church of Agios Athanasios in Soufli
The church is located next to Nikis square, it is made of stone and as the inscription on the outside of the sanctuary testifies, the church of Agios Athanasios Soufli was completed in 1848. In Karkatsilia of Soufli, the upper district, the church is built of Agios Athanasios. The iconostasis was built by Stratis Keledouris, the famous craftsman of the time from Eastern Thrace. In the bell tower of Agios Athanasios Soufli, visitors can see a marble relief: he is the archimandrite Spyridon Stogiannos, for more than 30 years pastor of Agios Athanasios Soufli, a man with rich social work and especially loved by his parishioners.
